Paying the Rent

Paying your rent on time is very important.

Rent is due:

  • 1 week in advance: Payment is due every Monday for tenants with a weekly tenancy
  • 1 month in advance: Payment is due by the 1st of the month for those with a monthly tenancy

Please remember that it is your responsibility to pay your rent, even if you are in receipt of benefits.

Co-op Homes can accept payments by several different options:

(1) Personal Cheque – made out to Co-op Homes (or your co-op landlord) and posted to our Brentford Office.

(2) Housing Benefit direct to your landlord.

Please remember that you MUST notify your Housing Benefit office if your circumstances change (for example, if you start or stop working).

If you are not sure if you entitled to Housing Benefit, the London Borough of Hounslow has an online calculator that can help check your entitlement to housing and council tax benefit.  Click here to find out more http://hounslow.entitledto.co.uk/default.aspx?sid=2&cid=01e1bc38-c013-4426-845c-460ca328234e

(3) Standing Order

This is an instruction from you to your bank or building society to make a regular payment to us from your account. All you need is a bank or building society account. If you would like to pay by standing order, please contact us first as we would be pleased to help you arrange this. You can e-mail us at  Homes@coophomes.coop.

(4) Allpay Cards

The Allpay card is a plastic swipe card with your name and rent account number on it. The Allpay card is not a credit or debit card but is a convenient way to make a rent payment at any Post Office or Payzone outlet using cash, cheque, debit card or credit card.

Allpay cards are normally issued at the start of a tenancy but we can supply you with another one at any time. Please e-mail Homes@coophomes.coop to request a new or replacement Allpay swipe card.
